Pierce Phillips returns to Cobh Ramblers after Cork departure

First Division Cobh Ramblers have unveiled the signing of former Cork City midfielder Pierce Phillips ahead of the 2020 campaign.

Phillips spent the first half of the 2018 season on loan at St Colman’s Park from the Leesiders – before making his return to Turners Cross for the latter half of the said year.

He began his playing career with Rockmount before spending three seasons with Cork City U19s from 2015 to 2017.

The 21-year-old then progressed to their senior setup and spent the first half of 2018 on loan with Ramblers, where he would make 19 appearances before going back to City.

He remained there for 2019, making seven first team appearances before leaving the club at the end of the season.

He has been capped for Ireland at Colleges & Universities Level and was a key figure in Cork’s UEFA Youth Champions League Squad.

“I’m delighted to have signed and to get the deal done,” Cobh’s first new signing told the club’s media team.

“I know a few of the lads from my time here two seasons ago and there’s a good squad here so I’m looking forward to getting the season started.

“We want to push on from and hopefully we can make the year a successful one.”
