The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have confirmed that John Earley is to step down from the FAI Board with immediate effect.

The Statement from the FAI reads; “SFAI chairman John Earley has tonight resigned from the Board of the Football Association of Ireland with immediate effect.

“In a letter to FAI President Donal Conway, Earley confirmed that he has made the decision in the best interests of Irish football.”

Earley’s departure comes just days following the news that President Donal Conway is to also step down in his position.

Conway was installed as FAI President in August 2018, having served as a FAI board member previously.
