Former Republic of Ireland underage international Kevin Toner joins Kilmore Celtic

St Patrick’s Athletic and former Aston Villa defender Kevin Toner has joined junior side Kilmore Celtic following the conclusion of the League of Ireland season.

The 23-year-old joins Kilmore after spending the previous two years at St Pats, after returning home from Villa Park.

The former Home Farm schoolboy departed the Saints at the end of the 2019 campaign, after making 56 appearances for the Richmond Park outfit.

While at Richmond Park, Toner reached the Leinster Senior Cup final in 2018 with the Athletic, scoring a late winner in the semi-final win over Dundalk.

In the 2018 season he also scored four further league goals against Bray Wanderers, Derry City and Limerick.

The Co. Meath native made 26 appearances in the 2019 campaign for the Saints, scoring on three occasions.

Toner netted against Declan Devine’s Derry, UCD and Sligo Rovers in his final year at the Inchicore venue.

His final appearance came in a scoreless draw away to Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium – a result that saw Stephen O’Donnell’s side pick up their second clean sheet on the spin.

The left-footed defender has also had stints at Stevenage, Kidderminster, Walsall and Bradford City while he was on the books of Aston Villa.
