Patrick Hoban extends Dundalk stay by a further two years

Dundalk forward Patrick Hoban has extended his stay at Oriel Park, with the 28 year old striker signing a new deal that will keep at him at the club until the end of the 2021 campaign.

Currently, in his second spell at the club, Hoban has scored 93 goals for the Lilywhites in 165 appearances.

Having won three league titles, two EA Sports Cup and one FAI Cup during his time at the club, Hoban has established himself as a fan’s favourite at the Co. Louth venue.

Speaking to his club’s media team after signing his contract extension, the Galway native revealed his delight on putting pen to paper.

“I am absolutely delighted to get it done. It has been a while but I am thrilled to get it over the line.

“I have had a very good four years at the club, I am closing in on 100 goals for the club and I hope to do that sooner rather than later.

“Hopefully the next two years will be the same as the last few and we can win all the trophies we can.”

Dundalk Head Coach Vinny Perth added; “It’s great news. We are delighted that we got the deal done and I would like to thank the owners, the board and especially Mike Treacy for their hard work and dedication to the club.

“Pat is really important to us in terms of his character both on and off the pitch. He brings real leadership for us and he is a big player for us.

“The challenge for Pat is for him to continue to perform on the pitch, to continue to score goals and we have to set new targets for him. “

Dundalk FC chairman Mike Treacy concluded; “We are thrilled to agree to a deal with Patrick ensuring his future with Dundalk Football Club.

“Throughout his time at the Club he has established himself as an iconic player on the pitch and in the community.

“Patrick’s ability to score goals and commitment to excellence are second to none in Ireland and we look forward to continued success.”
