Irish international Harry Arter joins Fulham on loan from Premier League Bournemouth

Republic of Ireland international Harry Arter has joined Championship side Fulham on loan from parent club Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City who were ultimately relegated to the Championship in May.

The acquisition of Arter on loan could be made permanent next summer should the loan-to-buy clause be exercised.

After signing for the recently relegated Cottagers, Arter revealed his delight on joining the club.

“I’m delighted to be here. Fulham is a fantastic club with a lot of ambition who want to get back to the Premier League, and I hope I can help them achieve that this season.”

Chairman Tony Khan added: “Harry Arter’s arrival at Fulham Football Club will strengthen our midfield and gives us another experienced and proven player who’s contributed to his former club’s promotion from the Championship.

“Harry’s a great fit for our squad, and we believe he’ll help us achieve our main objective, a return to the Premier League. Come on Fulham!”

A 15 time Republic of Ireland international, the combative midfielder will wear the number 18 shirt for Scott Parker’s side this season.

Fulham were bested on the opening day of the Championship season by newly promoted Barnsley. Luke Thomas’ winner was enough to see off Arter’s new employers.

The Londoner, who qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents, is in line to make his debut for Fulham on Saturday afternoon against Blackburn Rovers.
