Ciaran Coll extends stay at Derry City for another year

Premier Division Derry City have extended the contract of full-back Ciaran Coll until the end of the 2020 season.

Coll joined the Candystripes during the off-season from local rivals Finn Harps after the Co. Donegal side won promotion back to the Premier Division after a one-year absence.

Since then, the 27-year-old has made 16 appearances in the top-flight for Declan Devine’s side with one goal to his name.

Speaking to Derry City’s Soundcloud account, the Letterkenny native revealed his delight upon extending his stay with the club.

“I’d like to thank the club for keeping me on. I’ve enjoyed it since the very first day I’ve come in and hopefully we can finish the season on a high.

“I’m not thinking about next season just yet. There’s potential all over the pitch and I have to continue to work hard to keep my position in the team.”

Next up for Derry City is a friendly against Cliftonville on Friday evening before the mid-season break at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

The Candystripes currently lie in a healthy fourth position, just three points behind Bohemians in 3rd.
