U21 international Harry Charsley among trio released by Everton

Everton have announced the release of Northern Ireland international Shayne Lavery, Republic of Ireland Under 21 international Harry Charsley and former Shelbourne and Stella Maris goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt.

Lavery joined Everton in 2015 having spent time at Portadown and Glenavon in Northern Ireland previously. The forward made his debut for the Northern Ireland senior international team in 2018 as Michael O’Neill’s side drew 0-0 against Panama.

He spent the second half of the 2018/2019 season on loan with Scottish Championship side Falkirk and has now signed a one year deal with NIFL Premiership club Linfield.

Charsley had been with The Toffees since the age of nine and was a part of the Everton side to clinch the 2013/2014 Under 18 Premier League title.

He made his senior debut for the club in the Europa League group game against Appollon Limassol in 2017 and spent the second half of that season on loan to Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.

Polish-born Hewelt signed for the club in 2013 and plated a major role with the Under 23s as Everton were crowned Premier League 2 champions in 2016/2017. He was also named on the senior squad bench several times.

Boris Mathis, Jack Kiersey, Danny Brammall, Joe Hilton and Chris Renshaw have also been released by the club from their academy. Wales international Ashley Williams and England international Phil Jagielka have also left the club.
