League Preview: Cabinteely -v- Cobh Ramblers

CABINTEELY

Cabinteely will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening when they host Cobh Ramblers at Stradbrook (kick-off is at 7pm).

Cabo are winless in their past three league games with defeats to Drogheda United and Limerick before their most recent draw away to Galway United.

With the clash at home to Cobh being Cabo’s 17th meeting with their Co. Cork opposition since their introduction to the League of Ireland in 2015, Devlin admits that he is expecting a real battle against Stephen Henderson’s side.

“It’s going to be a very tough game.” The 66-year-old told his club’s media team.

“Whenever we have played Cobh over the past few years, it’s never been easy. You have to earn the three points. This game won’t be any different.

“We have a few players back from injury. So, we’re in a better place. Things are looking a lot brighter for the squad fitness wise.”

In terms of team news for Cabo, Kieran Butler and Oisin McMenamin return to the fold after long injury lay-offs.

However, there will be a number of absentees due to Leaving Certificate commitments.

COBH RAMBLERS



Hoping for only their second away win of the season, Cobh Ramblers make the trip to Stradbrook to face high-flying Cabinteely in a pivotal First Division clash for both teams.

Stephen Henderson’s young Rams go into Saturday evenings showdown off the back of a morale-boosting win over Bray Wanderers last time out.

Ian Turner scored the winner on that occasion for Cobh who are currently twelve points off the playoff spots with just twelve games to go.

Ramblers have lost their previous two games against Cabinteely with one and two goal defeats respectively.

Jaze Kabia, Cobh’s top scorer with six goals so far this term, has impressed many and will be a considerable threat to Cabinteely’s defence as he was to Shelbourne and Bray’s most recently.

With very little by way of expectation around Cobh for the remaining few months of the season, the Rams will look to take as many scalps as possible between now and the end of the season.



The Co. Cork outfit have not provided team news for Saturday’s trip to the capital.

Cobh Ramblers have only won once away from home so far this season. The Rams most recent away success came at Éamonn Deacy Park in a 2-1 win over Galway United.

In the last meeting between the two sides, Cabinteely came out on top in a 1-0 victory at St Colman’s Park with Rob Manley scoring the winner.
