Ryan Brennan becomes the latest Premier Division player to join ambitious Shelbourne in the second tier

New Shelbourne manager Ian Morris has continued to add to his ranks with the signing of Ryan Brennan from St Patrick’s Athletic.

The central midfielder has plied his trade at a number of clubs around the Dublin and Wicklow area, and joins Oscar Brennan (no relation), Dan Byrne and Conan Byrne in the door at Tolka Park.

Since departing his home town of Drogheda in 2013, the 27-year-old has had spells with Shamrock Rovers, Bray Wanderers and, most recently, St Patrick’s Athletic.

The midfielder is one of four brothers to have played in the top tiers of Irish football, having played alongside Killian at Pats last year, Gavin at Shamrock Rovers and Sean at Drogs.

Having decided to play at First Division level for the 2019 campaign, Ryan will likely be battling with his brother Sean for promotion to the Premier Division, and possibly even the First Division title.

Brennan is just the latest of a number of talented individuals to have arrived through the doors of Tolka Park in recent weeks, joining the likes of former teammate Conan Byrne, as well as Dan Byrne and Oscar Brennan who have joined from Bohemians.

Morris has also managed to retain some of the key players from the 2018 Reds squad, with James English, Derek Prendergast, Karl Moore and Lorcan Fitzgerald among those players to pledge their future in the last couple of weeks.
