Stephen Walsh Betting Column (July 21st 2017)

Well it is time to put last week’s disaster of a treble, with not one of our selection winning, behind us as we go about raising some funds for the Suas Educational Development Company.

Paddy Power has again sponsored the bet while also enhancing the bet.

This week, we have a treble again involving both divisions that we believe has a good chance of winning.

First up in the treble we are backing Waterford to stretch their lead at the top of the table against second placed Cobh Ramblers. The Cork based side has huge injury worries at the moment while the lack of strikers won’t assist them much. There was talk during the week that a number of underage players may have to be called up to the squad tonight so as to help fill out the bench.

Waterford on the other hand doesn’t have such problems with the signings of Paul Keegan and Sean Heaney adding to a strong side that has dropped few points at home.

Next up we will be backing Galway at home to win against Drogheda United. The home side are a tough side to beat at home and they are in a battle to avoid relegation at the moment. Drogheda appears to be shedding players every week with only a few joining them. Sean Russell scored last week for them helping them to draw against Sligo but I don’t think it will be good enough this week in Eamon Deacy Park.

Lastly we have a final bet involving Bray Wanderers and St Patrick’s Athletic. I am hoping for both teams to score. The Wicklow team were unlucky not to score last week against Cork City but are always likely to score while Pat’s have been a much improved side lately; defeating Derry City last week so we think this will be a good bet.

Bets:

Waterford 1/3

Galway 8/13

St Patrick’s Athletic v Bray Wanderers BTTS Yes 8/11
