Kenny appointed Bray Wanderers manager

Harry Kenny has been announced as the new permanent manager of Bray Wanderers.

Liam O’Brien has been announced as assistant manager after working alongside Kenny for the past number of weeks while Ian Fowler will continue in his position as goalkeeping coach.

This is Kenny’s first official managerial role following a highly successful playing career with Shamrock Rovers where he won four League of Ireland titles, three FAI Cups and two LFA President's Cup titles in his 13 seasons at the Hoops.

Kenny was appointed as assistant manager of the Seagulls when Mick Cooke took the reigns in July 2015. However, following Cooke’s departure last April, Kenny stepped up as caretaker manager while the Bray board discussed Cooke’s replacement.

During his time as caretaker boss, Kenny won his first two games:  a 4-2 win over non-league Bluebell United in the EA Sports Cup and a marvellous 1-0 victory at home to St Patrick’s Athletic in the LOI Premier Division at the end of April.

Since then, however, the Seagulls have endured a slump in form and only picked up their first point in six Premier Division games at home to fellow strugglers Longford Town in a stalemate at the beginning of this month.

With Kenny's position now made official, his first game as Bray Wanderers boss will be a visit to the Showgrounds to take on high-flying Sligo Rovers on June 24th as his side look to accumulate the points which will move them clear of the relegation battle – they currently sit in 11th place in the Premier Division with eight points, only above bottom of the table Longford on goal-difference.
