Waterford announce a further two signings

Waterford United have this evening announced two more signings, as Tommy Griffin seeks to expand his options ahead of the new First Division season.

Willie John Kiely will be a very familiar face to Blues fans as he re-signs for the second season of his second spell for United. After cutting his goal scoring teeth in junior football with Ballinroad, Abbeyside, Waterford Bohs and Cherry Orchard in Dublin before a two year spell in the SPL with Aberdeen. He then returned home to Waterford and made over 100 appearances on Suirside between 2007 and 2012 before returning in 2014 and now extends his stay for another season.

Blues boss Tommy Griffin was ecstatic to have Kiely on board for 2015.

"It's great to get Willie John back for the new season, he has a lot of experience in the League of Ireland and from his time in Scotland. He was great last season with our young squad and his experience will be invaluable to us again this season. He's looked sharp in pre-season and I know he can't wait to get the season started."

Another attacker has signed up at the RSC in the form of Glenn Hawe who arrives from local Waterford side Southend United after his own spell in Scotland with Dundee United and Griffin was extremely happy to add Hawe to the Blues squad.

"Glenn is a very talented technical player who is comfortable out wide or in a more central attacking position and gives us another good attacking option for the new season. Glenn has worked very hard in pre-season, he's really fit in well with the rest of the squad and I am delighted to have him on board."

The attacking pair are the latest in a flurry of signings for Waterford with Jack Doherty and Greg Peel singing on the dotted line in recent days as Tommy Griffin readies his squad for the league opener against Athlone Town in the RSC on the first Friday of March.
