St Pat's to face Legia Warsaw

St Patrick's Athletic face a tough test in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League as they face Polish Champions Legia Warsaw.

Legia retained their Ekstraklasa title, topping the pile by ten points from Lech Poznan, but in reality it was 20 as the points obtained are split in half after 30 games of the 37 game season.

They are managed by former Manchester United and Blackburn defender Henning Berg who joined the club during the midseason break, taking over from successful yet tactically regressive coach Jan Urban.

He brought in former Fulham striker Orlando Sa, who was supposed to be the main goal threat but instead it was Michal Kucharczyk and Vladimer Dvalishvili who bagged the majority of the goals in their run to the title.

Some of the players Liam Buckley’s men will need to keep special tabs on will be Polish international duo Michal Zyro and Jakub (Kuba) Kosecki who have the pace and power to create holes in opposing defences.

The first leg looks set to be played in Warsaw on the 15/16th of July with the return leg in Dublin a week later.
