Baraclough hails great Sligo performance

Speaking after his side's four-nil thrashing of Limerick, Sligo boss Ian Baraclough was clearly delighted with his side's performance. Goals for both centre halves; Jeff Henderson and Gavin Peers, Danny North and makeshift striker Evan McMillan topped off a great night's work on Shannonside for the Bit O'Red.

"It was really pleasing. The performance was great and some goals to boot. I'm not surprised with how convincing it's been. We've played really well in spasms. Tonight, we were consistent for ninety minutes. Two goals from set pieces broke the deadlock, which helps with us not scoring enough from set pieces. That freed us up to go and play our football."

On a night that Sligo scored four and hit the woodwork on three separate occasions, it really could have been an embarrassing evening for the Blues. Ian Baraclough hailed the attacking prowess of his side.

"It's something we've been working towards. We played really well when we had possession of the ball. We created the chances and we finished them."

Sligo have a busy schedule ahead of them with European adventures, maintaining a title challenge, an FAI Cup third round fixture with the potential of adding more games in that competition, but the Sligo boss was still delighted with his side's progression into the next round of the EA Sports Cup.

"Coming back from the break, we spoke about being in four competitions. We wanted to do well in them all, and this is a trophy we can realistically go and win. I hope we get a decent draw in the semi-final and win the cup - that'd be really nice."
