Paul’s Biography
Paul is a central midfielder who can also play in the centre of defence. He began his career at Shamrock Rovers where he made 14 appearances before arriving at Dublin City FC, and in 2003 he helped John Gill’s men to the First Division title.
With Dublin City bottom of the table, Gill resigned in midseason of 2004 and, although Crowley survived new manager Roddy Collins’ clearout, he was unable to prevent the club being relegated. At the end of the '04 season Paul moved on to Waterford United.
Following just one season at the RSC, Paul returned to Dublin City at the start of 2006 but, with the club going out of business in July, the midfielder was forced to find another club and he soon signed for UCD where he spent eighteen months. He was offered a new contract by the Students for 2008 but Crowley turned down the deal and instead decided to renew his acquaintance with John Gill at Dundalk.
He made his competitive debut for the Lilywhites away to Longford Town on 22 March 2008, and scored his very first goal for the club just three days later in a 3-0 victory over Monaghan United in a League Cup tie at Oriel Park. he made 29 appearances that season, scoring six times, as Dundalk went on to win the First Division title. But when new manager Sean Connor arrived prior to the club's return to the top tier, he instigated a clear-out of the existing players and Paul was on the move again.
Prior to the start of the 2009 season, Paul moved down the M1, signing for Drogheda United where he spent the next two tears. In 2010 Paul made 28 league appearances, scoring twice, as the Drogs finished bottom of the league. Two months later, in January 2011, Paul signed for Pete Mahon at St Patrick's Athletic.
Paul made 24 league appearances for the Inchicore club in 2011, as Pats finished a creditable 4th in the table. But Pete Mahon's services were not retained at the end of the season and when new boss Liam Buckley arrived shortly before Christmas, Paul moved on once more, signing back at Drogheda United in January 2012. It would be a sensational season at Hunky Dorys Park and Paul made 22 league appearances as the Drogs finished second to Sligo Rovers. Paul also picked up an EA Cup winner's medal as Drogheda overcame Shamrock Rovers 3-1 in the final.
At the end of 2012 Paul was not offered a new contract and left Drogheda, signing for Shelbourne on 1st December. Paul made only nine appearances for Shelbourne as they were relegated at the end of the season. In November 2013, he returned to Drogheda United where he made fourteen league appearances during the 2014 season as Drogheda finished ninth in the league. It was Paul's last year in League of Ireland football and he Paul retired at the end of the season.
