Darren’s Biography

Darren played with Cobh Ramblers where he made 77 appearances in all competitions before signing a two year contract with Cork City at the start of the 2007 season. After his two seasons at Turner's Cross Darren signed for English Conference side Stevenage in December 2008. During his three and a half seasons with Stevenage, the club won promotion to the Football League and, subsequently to the third tier of the League.

At the end of the 2011/12 season Darren was released by Stevenage and he signed for Micky Adams at Port Vale that summer, and in January 2013 he moved on again, this time joining Macclesfield Town. His time with the Silkmen was brief and he left in February 2013 without having made an appearance. His next port of call was Woking FC who he joined in September 2013. Darren made 3 league appearances for the Conference side but returned to Ireland in November 2013 when he signed for new Cork City manager John Caulfield ahead of the 2014 League of Ireland season.

Murphy only played four games during the 2014 season due to injuries and left Cork in August 2014. But in January 2015 he was back in the game, signing for Martin Cambridge at Cobh Ramblers. However, injuries got the better of him and he left the club in June 2015 without making an appearance.

In 2016/17 he played for Munster Senior League side Avondale United.
