Sean’s Biography

Sean O'Connor is a winger who signed for St. Pats from Crumlin United in the summer of 2005. He made his debut for St Pat's in a 1-0 defeat of Waterford United at Richmond Park.

Sean was at St Pats through the 2006 and 2007 seasons before signing for Shamrock Rovers in November '07. He spent three seasons at Rovers but injury plagued his final year at the club and he made 6 just league starts, adding 12 more from the bench, as Rovers won the 2010 league title. Sean was released by the club at the end of that season having made a total of 74 league appearances.

At the start of 2011 Sean moved west to join Limerick FC under the management of his former boss at Shamrock Rovers, Pat Scully. But after 11 league appearances and one goal, he left the club by mutual consent in July. That same month he re-joined one of his previous clubs, St Patrick's Athletic and scored within five minutes of his return, in a 2-2 home draw against UCD. By the end of the season he had netted seven goals in his 11 league appearances.

2012 was a good year for Sean. He played a key role in St Pats challenge for the title and scored in the FAI Cup, final, though Pats were beaten 3-2 after extra time by Derry City. Sean made 24 league appearances, scoring six times, but at the end of the season he followed assistant manager Trevor Croly out the door and across the M50 to Shamrock Rovers where he signed on 18 November 2012.

Sean won Setanta Cup and EA Cup medals for Rovers in 2013, scoring the second of seven goals against Drogheda United in the Setanta Cup final, and in the league he contributed five goals in 29 appearances. He continued his run in the team into the 2014 season, playing in twenty-five league games and scoring four goals as Rovers finished fourth. He also made one appearance for the B team, scoring in a 1-1 draw with Galway FC.

Sean stayed with Shamrock Rovers for the 2015 season and he went on to make ten league appearances, scoring twice in the process, as Shamrock Rovers finished third in the Premier Division. He left the club at the end of the season.
