Romauld’s Biography

Romauld started his career at French club, Niort, and signed for English side Accrington Stanley in August 2005. When Stanley were promoted to the Football League in 2006, Romauld scored their first ever league goals with a brace in their 2-1 win over Barnet.

At the conclusion of the 2008 African Cup of Nations, in which Romauld played for Benin, he left Accrington and on 11 February 2008 he signed for Paul Cook, with whom he had played at Accrington, at Sligo Rovers.

Over the next two seasons Romauld scored ten goals in 55 league appearances and helped the club to qualify for the Europa League, also appearing in the 2009 FAI Cup final, which Sligo lost 2-1 to Sporting Fingal. At the end of the 2009 season he quit Sligo to sign for English club Burton Albion.

Romauld joined Burton in February 2010 and made 8 appearances before the end of the 09/10 season, returning for a second spell at Sligo in July of that year. In the latter half of the 2010 season he scored five more league goals for Sligo in 15 league appearances. He also played in his second FAI Cup final, this time picking up a winners medal as Sligo defeated Shamrock Rovers in a penalty shootout.

Romauld did not return for the 2011 season, spending a period playing for Shanghai East Asia, but in December 2011 it was announced that he would return for a third spell at the Showgrounds in 2012. On 30 August 2012 Romauld left Sligo to join former boss Paul Cook at Accrington Stanley.
