Mark’s Biography
Born in the port town of Ringaskiddy, Mark played underage football with Hibernians of Shanbally and then with Passage in the nearby town of Passage West. He came to the the attention of John Caulfield when he was the manager of MSL side Avondale United. He was soon scoring goals for fun in the Munster Senior League and was brought in to the Cork City squad as a trialist by Damien Richardson in 2006. He popped up again as a trialist in 2007 but when Richardson left City the club's interest faded.
Mark finally found a place on the Cork City roster in 2010 when Tommy Dunne signed him on amateur terms. The club were then playing in the First Division under the unwieldy title of Cork City Foras Co-op following the club's financial meltdown in 2009. Mark made just 2 league appearances that season and work commitments along with a lack of playing opportunities soon led to his return to the Munster Senior League where he continued to make his name as one of the top Intermediate players in the country. He won several Munster Senior League titles with the all-conquering Avondale along with three consecutive FAI Intermediate Cup winners' medals.
In January 2014 Mark signed for his former Avondale manager John Caulfield at Cork City. He made his second debut for the club against St Patrick's Athletic on 7 March and scored his first goal three days later in a 4-0 win over Limerick FC in the EA Cup. Mark was a key member of that City side as they went on to finish runners up in the 2014 league campaign, scoring eleven times in the league, from 33 appearances, and twice in Cup competition.
In 2015 Mark netted a further nine goals in 28 league appearances as Cork finished runners-up to Dundalk once more. He also played in the FAI Cup Final but Dundalk defeated Cork 1-0 after extra-time. The following year Mark found himself second choice to lead the City attack behind new arrival Sean Maguire, but he still made 27 league appearances, albeit 22 of those came as a substitute, and scored four league goals. Mark added five more goals in cup competition and won an FAI Cup winners medal, coming on as a sub in City's 1-0 win over Dundalk in the 2016 final.
In December 2016 Mark announced his departure from Cork City, choosing to go back to full-time employment and part-time football. After Christmas it was announced that Mark had signed for Pat Fenlon at Waterford FC.
In January 2018, Mark signed for Limerick FC in the Premier Division.
In July 2019, Mark signed once again for Cork City.
