Limerick have confirmed the signing of striker Danny Morrissey from Finn Harps as manager Neil McDonald continues to restructure his squad for next season.

Morrissey made more than 60 Premier Division appearances for Cork City and was a major part of the Leesiders' FAI Cup-winning squad in 2016.

He made his senior debut at First Division level as a 16-year-old back in 2010, playing a role in Cork’s title success and promotion back to the Premier Division 12 months later.

His was in a rich vein of form in his second top-flight campaign in 2013, when he found the net on nine occasions in 23 league outings.

Morrissey was unfortunate to have a run of injuries the following season, and while he made 34 league appearances over the next two seasons and featured in the Europa League, could not nail down a regular place in John Caulfield’s starting line side.

An undoubted highlight was 2015 FAI Cup semi-final winner and he also featured in the decider.

Sadly for Morrissey. with Seanie Maguire in imperious form, game time was limited and he moved to Ballybofey and Finn Harps in 2017.

He started 15 times in a total of 21 league appearances, and found the net on five occasions.

He scored at home and away ironically against Limerick as the Donegal side completed a rare double over the Shannonsiders in what was to prove a troubled season.

“We are happy to have Danny on board,” McDonald told the club's official website.

“We will be looking to get him fitter than he was, we know he can score goals, and hopefully he will be able to put away the chances that we create.”
