Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett was left disappointed as his side held Munster rivals Cork City FC to a scoreless draw in the SSE Airtricity League First Division in front of a huge crowd in the Markets Field last Friday night.

Whilst the visitors dominated possession in difficult conditions, it was the home side that arguably had the better chances on an evening where Treaty ended the game with ten men after Lee Devitt received a straight red card in the 92nd minute.

“To be honest we’re disappointed that we didn’t win but definitely would’ve taken a draw before the game,” said Barrett after the game on Friday.

“Overall, I think that we had a lot more clear-cut chances while they had more of the possession and were very good on the counter-attack. I thought that we defended really well and we’re disappointed, but we've got to be happy with the point.”

Devitt’s red card for an alleged reckless challenge at the end of the game sparked a major flashpoint between both sets of players.

“Looking back on the video it seemed a harsh one, I think that their players have surrounded the ref and he’s just lost his head and given a red card.”

“I just don’t think that those are red cards because I think that players need to get out of the way. Lee (Devitt) makes the tackle and your man flies in and falls over him.”

The result means that Treaty remain unbeaten and three points behind league leaders Cork City who have a game in hand.
