Luton Town acquires Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul from Norwich City
Luton Town has secured the signature of the Netherlands international goalkeeper Tim Krul from Norwich City.
The experienced goalkeeper, with 222 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United and Norwich, joins the Hatters in a move that will boost their goalkeeping options.
Krul, who stands at 6ft 2in, has not only played extensively in the Premier League but has also been instrumental in winning three Championship titles, playing key roles for the Canaries in their Championship-title winning campaigns.
On the international stage, he has 15 caps earned representing the Netherlands.
He has chosen to wear the number 23 for Luton Town, the same number he donned during the World Cup where the Dutch team clinched the third place.
On joining Luton Town, Krul expressed his excitement, saying to lutontown.co.uk, “The story of Luton Town speaks for itself, the last nine years has been an amazing journey and I’m excited to join that journey. It’s been a whirlwind for the club; I spoke to Carlton Morris and he spoke very highly about what’s happening at this club.”
Luton's boss, Rob Edwards, expressed his enthusiasm about Krul's signing, stating, “Tim’s a leader and a top goalkeeper who is still very ambitious and very hungry. He wants to play.”
Edwards praised Krul for his experience and leadership qualities, stressing the importance of having such a seasoned player in the team.
He noted, “I’ve said how essential the position is, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring in two quality goalkeepers to add real competition.”
Highlighting Krul's confidence and past accomplishments, Edwards concluded, “He’s played in the World Cup, has experience in the Premier League. He’s the 10th signing and I’m delighted with every single one of them.”
