Everton has announced the signing of Portuguese striker Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Clube de Portugal.

The 6ft 3in forward has committed to the Toffees for four years, with his contract set to expire in June 2027.

This marks Everton's third acquisition of the summer, following Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma.

Chermiti, who will don the number 28 jersey, began his football journey at Sporting CP's academy in 2016.

He climbed the youth ranks rapidly, making his senior team debut in a 2-2 league derby against Benfica earlier this year.

In his brief stint with Sporting, the Under-19 international showcased his prowess, setting up a goal in a 5-0 triumph over SC Braga and finding the back of the net in consecutive matches against Rio Ave and Porto.

Chermiti expressed his excitement about the new journey with Everton.

In a chat with evertontv, he shared, "Joining Everton is a new beginning. I'm thrilled to be a part of this beautiful club in a beautiful city. I aim to fully integrate myself into the club, from the fans to my teammates, and I am eager to start working with the coach."

The striker, who has roots in Tunisia and Cape Verde, also emphasized his determination to succeed at Everton, noting, “Everton is a prestigious club with a rich history. This move is a monumental moment in my career, and I'm fully geared up to start.”

Sean Dyche, Everton's manager, praised the new recruit: “Youssef is a gifted young striker. Despite his age, he offers a unique dimension to our team. We recognize his raw potential, which is why we're delighted to welcome him to Everton.”
