Women's Euro 2021 finals in England postponed until 2022

The 2021 European Women’s Championship, due to take place in England next July, has been postponed by a year, according to the Danish Football Union.

UEFA confirmed on Wednesday that all international representative football for the month of June has been postponed until further notice.

A statement released by UEFA made no mention of the Euros but, with the men’s competition already put back to next June, it was felt another postponement was inevitable.

“No formal decision [on the postponement of the women’s Euros] has been made yet but it is indeed a likely option,” a UEFA spokesperson said earlier in the week.

However a statement from the Dansk Boldspil Union, mirroring the Norwegian FA’s confirmation of the men’s tournament’s postponed, confirmed that the tournament has been pushed back.

“The women’s Euros and the [men’s] Under-21 European Championship is moved from the summer of 2021 to the following summer because of the fact that both the Olympics and the men’s Euros will take place in the summer of 2021,” read the Danish FA statement.

Ireland are currently top of qualifying group I, a point clear of Germany, however away trips to face the Germans and Ukraine have now been postponed.

The under-17 men’s and under-19 women’s championships, due to take place in May and July respectively, have also been cancelled.

The women's under-17 championship and men's under-19 championship, also scheduled for May and July respectively, have been postponed.
