UEFA Euro 2020 play-offs postponed once more as international calendar in June called off

UEFA have confirmed that the Euro 2020 play-offs between the Republic of Ireland and Slovakia and between Northern Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina will not take place in June.

The games were originally scheduled to be played on March 26^th but were postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent shutdown in Europe.

UEFA had given a provisional timeframe of early June for the ties to go ahead, following the postponing of the finals until summer 2021, however that date will now not be met.

The Republic of Ireland women’s team’s Euro 2021 qualifier away to Ukraine, due to take place on June 5^th, will also be postponed until a later date.

“All national team matches for men and women due to be played in June 2020 are postponed until further notice,” read a statement released by the European members’ association.

"This includes the play-off matches for UEFA EURO 2020 and qualifying matches for UEFA Women’s EURO 2021.

"All other UEFA competition matches, including the centralised international friendly matches, remain postponed until further notice."

UEFA confirmed that the men's under-17 championship and women's under-19 championship, scheduled for May and July respectively, have been cancelled.

The women's under-17 championship and men's under-19 championship, also scheduled for May and July respectively, have been postponed.

It is also likely that any Champions League and Europa League qualifying round games will also be pushed back from the planned June start dates.
