Northern Ireland manager Kenny Shiels names two new faces in squad for Pinitar Cup in Spain

Northern Ireland manager Kenny Shiels has named two new caps in his squad to travel to the Pinitar Cup in Spain next month.

The Green and White Army will take on Iceland, Ukraine and Scotland in Murcia over six days in preparation for the Euro 2021 qualification games against Belarus in April and May.

16-year-old Mid-Ulster Ladies goalkeeper Lilie Crooks has been selected for the first time after Sheffield United stopper Becky Flaherty had to pull out with injury.

Glentoran’s 17-year-old midfielder Danielle Maxwell has also been included in the squad for the first time for the round-robin tournament.

Northern Ireland face Iceland in their opening game on Wednesday, March 4th before facing Ukraine on the 7th and Scotland on the 10th – all three teams are ranked ahead of Northern Ireland.

Shiels’ charges face Belarus away in their next Euro 2021 qualifier on April 14th before welcoming the same opposition to Belfast on June 5th.

They will face the Faroe Islands at home four days later before travelling to the Faroes for their final qualifying game on September 18th.
