Former Ireland under-21 Ian Lawlor joins Scunthorpe on loan from Doncaster

Former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international Ian Lawlor has joined League 2 side Scunthorpe United on loan.

The Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper will remain with the Irons until the end of the season while his contract with his parent club runs until the summer of 2021.

"Ian needs game time so this is an opportunity for him to go and look to get some minutes under his belt, which is important to keep him ticking over and keep him sharp,” Doncaster boss Darren Moore said, speaking to the club’s website.

"We have a recall clause so can bring him back if needed, he has had to be patient this season but he is a big part of our plans and we feel this is a loan which will benefit him and us."

The Dubliner began his career at Manchester City’s academy in 2010. Loan spells with Barnet and Bury followed before he signed with Doncaster in 2017.

The 25 year old has made 85 senior appearances for Rovers so far during his time at Keepmoat Stadium.
