St Patrick's Athletic sign Scottish forward Martin Rennie

Stephen O’Donnell’s St Patrick’s Athletic have confirmed the acquisition of Scottish forward Martin Rennie.

Rennie joins the Saints from Montrose, as he scored 14 league goals last season for the Scottish League One outfit.

“All the boys have been really welcoming and the staff are really organised, and training has been of a really high standard,” the 25-year-old said to the Athletic’s media team.

“I know that the standard in the league is really high and with four teams in the league from Dublin,

“I'm looking forward to the derbies. The number one aim for me is to score goals. That is really it. I didn't come here to struggle; I want to play at a high standard and show what I've got.”

After the five-figure sum was agreed upon by both St Patrick’s Athletic and Montrose – Montrose manager Stewart Petrie said; “I am absolutely delighted for Martin.

“He has been great for us and we are really pleased to see him getting such an exciting move to fulltime football at such a high level.

“It speaks volumes for the Club that we can provide such a positive platform for players.

He added; “It’s incredible to think he could be soon playing in the Champions or Europa leagues with St Patrick’s and we wish him all the best for the future.”
