Boost for Cobh as Kevin Taylor and forward Brian Murphy re-sign for 2020

First Division Cobh Ramblers have confirmed that full-back Kevin Taylor and Brian Murphy have both re-signed for the club ahead of the 2020 campaign.

News of Taylor’s return will be a welcome boost for Stuart Taylor’s Rams who have been active in the transfer market in recent weeks.

Pierce Phillips and John Kavanagh have both re-joined the club in the window as manager Ashton begins to put his own stamp on things at St Colman’s Park.

Full-back Taylor re-signs for his fourth consecutive year on the spin at the East Cork outfit, having joined from Cork City’s underage set-up.

“I’m delighted to be back with Cobh and grateful for the opportunity from the club,” Taylor told his club’s media team.

“I firmly believe that with the club’s ambition at the moment and the squad of players available we can genuinely achieve success in the coming season.”

Also returning is Kerryman Brian Murphy. He began his career at Listowel Celtic, earning caps at Irish U16 and U17 level in the process.

He then stepped up to a Tralee Dynamos side competing in the A Championship at the time before going on to play for Limerick and Fairview Rangers.

The forward made his Cobh debut in the EA Sports Cup win over Limerick and went on to make 13 appearances last year, scoring four goals.

The 27-year-old is the 17th member of Ashton’s squad to sign up for 2020, as they prepare to host St Patrick’s Athletic in a pre-season friendly this evening.
