Former Ireland international Andy Reid returns to Forest as under-23s coach

English Championship side Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of former Ireland international and Forest player Andy Reid as a coach with their Under 23 side.

The appointment comes as head coach Jimmy Gilligan departs the club to take up a new role with the English FA.

Reid’s former teammate Chris Cohen has taken over the role and appointed the 29 time Ireland international to assist him.

He was also appointed head coach of the Republic of Ireland Under 18 side last year and he will split his time between Nottingham Forest and the FAI.

The former midfielder began his professional career in Forest’s academy before going on to make 290 appearances for the club during two separate spells at the City Ground where he retired as a player in 2016.
