Harps sign Delap on loan from Derry as McEleney gets set to join from Larne

Finn Harps have confirmed the acquisition of Derry City defender Adrian Delap on loan for the 2020 Premier Division campaign.

Delap joins the Co. Donegal outfit on loan for 2020, as Northern Irish outfit Larne have also confirmed that defender Shane McEleney is to join Harps for 2020.

Delap appeared 21 times in all competitions for the Candystripes last year and he also netted against the club at Finn Park last season for Declan Devine’s charges.

“I’m happy with the move. I think it’s a case of being the best of both worlds, as I can go out and get a few games,” Delap said.

“I know Ollie fairly well and I know what he’s about. It’s the same standard, the same league so that made sense too. Hopefully it goes well.”

Harps boss Ollie Horgan added; “Having played against Aidy a few times last year we know what he’s capable of and we’re pleased to have him with us.

“We've had a few players from Derry come in over the years and do well for the club so hopefully that will continue.”

In addition, Larne have also confirmed that they have parted ways with McEleney to facilitate his impending move to Finn Park.

Larne, who lie 6th in the Northern Irish top-flight thanked the 28-year-old for his service with the club.

“Shane goes with our thanks for everything he has helped us to achieve on this part of the journey," said manager Tiernan Lynch.

“He was coming out of contract in the summer and this opportunity to join Finn Harps now allows him to be part of their pre-season preparations and play a full part in their League of Ireland of campaign.

“We thank him for all of his contribution and wish him well at his new club.”
