One in and one out at Cork as former Anderlecht keeper Bossin joins the Leesiders with Ryan departing

Premier Division Cork City have unveiled the signing of former Nottingham Forest and Anderlecht goalkeeper Liam Bossin.

Bossin is a former Republic of Ireland under-21 international and joins Neale Fenn’s side in the wake of the departure of Tadgh Ryan.

Ryan departs the Leesiders after earning his spot in the starting XI towards the end of the year at the Cross.

23-year-old Bossin joins City after a recent spell at Nottingham Forest – with the Belgian born shot-stopper committing to the cause for 2020.

“I was waiting for an opportunity and my agent called me and said Cork City were looking for me, and I just wanted to get there and get signed,” Bossin told the Leesiders media team.

“I have played in Turner’s Cross before with the Ireland Under 19s, so I already know the stadium and I am really looking forward to it.”

And City boss Neale Fenn welcomed Bossin’s signing; “Getting Liam in is excellent news. He is a fantastic keeper, an Irish Under 21 international, and it is brilliant for us to get a player of his calibre.

“He’s a player I would have known from the international scene and I would have kept an eye on him over the years; I’ve spoken to people about him and made sure he will be a good fit for us, so I am very pleased to have him signed.”

Fenn also confirmed earlier in the day that former Huddersfield Town youth and Galway United keeper Ryan has left the club.

“Tadhg will be moving on. He did well when he came into the team last season, but he won’t be back for 2020.

“We would like to thank him for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.”
