Cobh appoint Darren Dennehy as new under-17 boss

Cobh Ramblers have appointed former Limerick and Cork City defender Darren Dennehy as their new under-17 manager for the 2020 season.

The Kerry native joined Everton as a schoolboy before having spells at Cardiff, Gillingham and Barnet.

He then returned to Ireland in 2013, playing for Cork City, St Pat’s and Limerick before retiring in 2019.

He made over 100 League of Ireland appearances in that time with the three clubs he spent previous time at.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” the 31-year-old told Cobh’s media team.

“It’s something that I’ve looked at getting into for a while and this is the perfect opportunity.

“The underage League of Ireland has been great for young players and hopefully I can help continue their development.

“Last year’s team did very well and we have a few of those players still underage for this season which is always a help.

“We want to build on that and continue to compete with the best teams in the country.”
