Dan Casey makes Bohs return after leaving Cork

Premier Division Bohemians have confirmed the re-capture of defender Dan Casey as the Gypsies ramp up their preparations for 2020.

Casey originally joined the Gypsies in July 2017 from Sunderland, before nailing his position down in the heart of the Bohs defence in 2018.

The 22-year-old then made the move to join Cork City at the conclusion of the 2018 season. While at Turners Cross in 2019, the 22-year-old made 29 appearances for City

“I’m really pleased to welcome Dan back to Dalymount Park after a season with Cork,” Keith Long told Bohemians media team.

“At 22, he is still very young but has gained good experience over the last 2½ years.

“I believe the best is yet to come from Dan and I hope he can continue to improve at our club.”

Coincidentally, his first goal for Cork came in the two-nil win over Bohemians in March, scoring a header. He then scored in defeats at home to both Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers.

His final appearance for Cork was in the final league game of the season away to Shamrock Rovers, where Neale Fenn’s side fell to a dismal three-nil defeat at Tallaght Stadium.

“I’ve spoken to Dan and he has decided to move back to Dublin,” Fenn told Cork City’s media team earlier this week.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank him for his time here and wish him the best of luck for the future.”
