Galway continue impressive off-season transfer business with signing of Dean O'Halloran

First Division Galway United have unveiled the acquisition of forward Dean O’Halloran from Waterford ahead of the 2020 campaign.

O’Halloran joins the Tribesmen from Alan Reynolds’ Blues, having spent the opening half of the year at Bray Wanderers.

While at the RSC, the 23-year-old won a First Division title while establishing himself as a key man of Reynolds’ side in the 2018 season.

However, he then departed the club to join Bray on loan before the 2019 campaign, before returning to his parent club halfway through the year.

“Alan rang me out of the blue and we’ve been speaking for a number of weeks,” O’Halloran explained to the Tribesmen’s media team.

“We met and he laid out his plans to me and he was very passionate about what he wants to achieve with the club.

“I’m coming down to the First Division to hopefully go straight back up with Galway United. I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and getting started in the new year.”

And manager Alan Murphy added; “Dean is a really honest, highly technical, modern day player with pace, that can play in a variety of attacking positions.

“We think it’s a huge season for Galway United, but we also believe it’s a huge season for Dean in terms of that next step he needs to take.”
