James Dermody departs Kilkenny United to take charge of Longford Town's under-19s

Kilkenny United have confirmed the resignation of James Dermody following the conclusion of the 2019 Women’s National League.

Dermody will return to Longford Town to take charge of the club’s under-19s side, just months after leaving his post as the club’s under-17 boss.

The Longford native is also in charge of Maynooth University’s freshman side, a post that he has held for the previous three years.

He took charge of his first game as Kilkenny boss in the 3-1 FAI Cup defeat at home to Limerick, before overseeing two consecutive heavy defeats against both Peamount United and Shelbourne.

Kilkenny rounded off their 2019 campaign with two 7-1 defeats against both Limerick and FAI Cup winner Wexford Youths.

The Marble City outfit came last in the Women’s National League – picking up two points from 21 games with draws against both Cork City and DLR Waves.
