Troy Parrott: 'I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing - hopefully I can go far in the game'

Andrew Dempsey reports from the Aviva Stadium

Making his senior international debut on Thursday evening, Troy Parrott admits that he is looking to continue to improve as his progress through the ranks shows no sign of slowing.

Parrott was withdrawn just after the hour mark in place of Callum Robinson, with many lauding his confident display on his senior debut.

“I’ve been satisfied with the strides that I’ve been making,” Parrott said in his post-match press conference.

“I made my debut for Tottenham and have then come in here and made my debut for Ireland.

“I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing – training hard and things like that. Hopefully I can go far in the game.”

The Tottenham youngster added; “I was delighted to be out there. To be walking out in the green jersey in my hometown of Dublin was the best feeling I’ve ever felt.

“Just making my debut and the feeling walking out on to the pitch is the main one I’ll take away from this evening.

“I felt like I done well, I had a couple of chances. I could have taken them maybe, but I felt like I done well.

“As I said during an interview in the week it’s about scoring goals and getting assists and creating chances.

“Unluckily enough I didn’t get the goal tonight but I’m happy I came away from the game with an assist.”

And with Monday’s game well on the mind – Parrott insists that he would love to be a part of the Danish showdown.

“That’s the dream for everyone. Obviously, it’s a massive game and we’ve taken a positive result into it.

“Maybe, if I go back down. I’ll try take stuff away from this game and go back into the 21s set-up but it’s just good to get that debut.”
