Aaron Connolly ruled out of New Zealand and Denmark games with injury

Republic of Ireland forward Aaron Connolly has been ruled out of the upcoming internationals against New Zealand and Denmark.

The Brighton and Hove Albion youngster was officially withdrawn from Mick McCarthy’s squad on Monday evening after picking up a knock in Sunday’s defeat away to Manchester United.

After having a scan on Monday afternoon, Connolly has since been ruled out of action with a groin injury.

“Our team doctor Alan Byrne has spoken to the Brighton medical team and had a look at the scans,” Mick McCarthy told the FAI website.

“The scans have confirmed the groin injury and Aaron won’t be ready in time for New Zealand and Denmark.”

McCarthy will not call up any further players to his squad, with his 27-strong panel who reported into camp on Sunday expected to remain with the squad.
