Longford Town secure signature of James English ahead of 2020 campaign

Longford Town have announced the signing of James English ahead of their 2020 First Division campaign.

The forward was part of the Shelbourne squad that went on to be crowned First Division Champions this past season with English contributing two goals during the campaign.

English signed for Shelbourne midway through the 2015 season where he would go on to score 37 league goals for The Reds.

Daire Doyle has snapped up the striker just weeks after Aaron Dobbs went the opposite direction from Longford Town to sign for newly promoted Shelbourne as they face into the Premier Division next season.

Rooney joins De Town as midfielder Sam Verdon has also re-signed for the club. Verdon scored on eight occasions last term for the Red and Black.

Luke Dennison, Karl Chambers, Dylan Grimes, Dean Zambra, Joe Manley and Adam Evans have also committed to the 2020 cause for the Midlander’s.
