Daire Doyle unveiled as new Longford Town permanent boss

First Division Longford Town have confirmed the appointment of Daire Doyle as the club’s new first-team boss.

Doyle was installed as interim first-team manager in the wake of Neale Fenn’s abrupt departure from Longford in August.

Since taking over the reins of the Red and Black of the Midlands, the former Longford midfield general has overseen six games in charge of the club.

Winning twice, and drawing on three occasions, the 39-year-old has emerged from the shadows of Neale Fenn’s time in charge.

Once of Cabinteely’s backroom team, Doyle was appointed as Longford’s assistant manager in 2017, following the departure of Gary Cronin.

He enjoyed two seasons at Flancare Park (now City Calling Stadium) as a player, playing in the club's 2007 FAI Cup final team that lost 1-0 to Cork City.

He made 21 appearances in that first year at Longford, a season that ended in relegation to the First Division, and a further 35 in 2008.

Doyle soon made the move to Bray Wanderers until his departure in 2013, before having stints at Drogheda United, Shelbourne and Cabinteely before retiring.
