Jack Byrne, Sean Gannon and Michael Duffy all shortlisted for PFAI Player of the Year award

The Professional Footballer’s Association of Ireland (PFAI) have released its Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year shortlist for 2019.

The PFAI have also revealed its Premier Division Team of the Year, with the top two Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers featuring heavily – with four and five players each respectively.

The trio of Jack Byrne, Michael Duffy and Sean Gannon have all been earmarked for the Player of the Year accolade.

Byrne is also up for the Young Player of the Year Award, along with Daniel Mandroiu of Bohemians and Sheffield United loanee David Parkhouse who is currently plying his trade with Derry City

Shamrock Rovers quartet Alan Mannus, Lee Grace, Jack Byrne and Sean Kavanagh all feature in the XI, while Bohemians Republic of Ireland under-21 international Daniel Mandroiu is also included.

Dundalk quintet Sean Gannon, Sean Hoare, Chris Shields, Michael Duffy and Patrick Hoban have also been named in the squad.

The Lilywhites quintet are just one win away from a historic treble – with Shamrock Rovers standing in the way of Vinny Perth’s side.

Derry City’s loanee David Parkhouse has also been selected on the panel, having impressed on loan from Premier League Sheffield United.
