Jack Brady makes Shels return after three years away from Tolka Park

First Division league winners Shelbourne have unveiled the re-capture of former Longford Town and Limerick goalkeeper Jack Brady.

Brady makes his return to Tolka Park having been away from the club over the past three campaigns, with stints at both Longford and most recently, Limerick.

The 22-year-old Tipperary native impressed between the sticks for the Shannonsiders this term, making 27 league appearances for Tommy Barrett’s side.

It is widely expected that Brady will compete with Shels number one shot-stopper Colin McCabe who has also committed to the Reds 2020 Premier Division return.

Shelbourne secured the First Division on the penultimate night of the season with a 3-1 win away to Drogheda United.

Brady’ Shannonsiders were ultimately unsuccessful in their own promotion hunt as off-field issues ground their promotion tilt to a halt.

The Super Blues, dogged by off-field issues eventually finished in 6th position, 14 points off the Playoff spots in the end.

In total, alongside a raft of world-class showings between the sticks, Brady secured eight clean sheets to his name.

Brady’s final appearance for Limerick before making his return to Shelbourne resulted in a heavy 7-0 defeat for Barrett’s side.

While at Tolka Park previously, the former Tipperary minor Gaelic football star made 18 appearances for the Reds.



The former Longford Town keeper came through the club’s underage set-up to make his debut for the club at the end of the 2014 campaign at St Colman’s Park, in a 2-0 win away to Cobh Ramblers.
