Northern Irish international Kyle Lafferty joins Norwegian side Sarpsborg after stint with Glasgow Rangers

Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty has joined Norwegian side Sarpsborg after a stint with Glasgow Rangers last season.

Lafferty began his career at Premier League Burnley where he was sent on loan to Darlington during the 2006 campaign.

After his spell at Turf Moor, the forward joined Glasgow Rangers for his first spell at Ibrox. Now 31, Lafferty spent four years in Glasgow, where he scored 31 times in 104 appearances.

With the demise of Rangers in 2012, the Northern Irish international joined Swiss side Sion where he spent a year with the club before joining Palermo in 2013.

His 11 goals in 34 appearances proved crucial for the then Serie B outfit, as they gained promotion back to the Italian top-flight.

However, Lafferty did not appear in Serie A for Palermo, as he joined Norwich City ahead of the 2014 season.

The Enniskillen native found it difficult to break into the Canaries side during his three years at Carrow Road, going on loan to Turkish side Caykur Rizespor and Birmingham City.   

After being released by Norwich at the end of the 2017 campaign, the 73 time Northern Irish international joined Hearts before returning to Rangers ahead of the 2018 season.

Sarpsborg currently lie bottom of the Norwegian top-flight, five points adrift from safety with 11 games remaining.
