Harry Kenny: "I thought we should have won by more but it's still three points which I am really pleased about"

St Patrick’s Athletic boss Harry Kenny revealed his delight after his side came from behind to see off the challenge of Sligo Rovers at Richmond Park.

David Webster’s 84th minute header was enough to see off the Bit O’Red, with recent recruit Glen McAuley scoring his first goal for the club early in the second half.

“I thought we were a little unlucky to be going in at half-time a goal behind, I thought we were the better side,” the former Bray Wanderers boss said.

“It was much better in the second half; our passing was much better and so was our tempo.

“I don’t think the two-one scoreline was a fair reflection on the game, I thought we should have won by more but it’s still three points which I’m really pleased about.

“Glen (McAuley) has been working on his fitness since he came into us a few weeks ago. He got a taste of it last week against Bray and he has been great for us since he has come in.

“His attitude is fantastic, and he has been a top player since he has arrived.”

Kenny concluded by adding the importance of Webster’s late winner; “It’s important when a moment like that happens.

“We were dominating the game and Dave came up trumps for us with a superb header.

“He did it last week in the cup versus Bray Wanderers and he has done it again this evening, so I’m really pleased about that.

“We had a goal a couple of weeks back to try and catch Bohs and Derry so we’re a little bit closer than we were a couple of weeks back and we have to be pleased about that.”
