Bohs face Airdrie trip while Waterford welcome Hearts under-21s in Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup

Bohemians have been drawn away to Scottish League One side Airdrie in the second round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup while Waterford welcome Hearts under-21s to the RSC.

Ballymena United have also been handed a home draw to Rangers under-21s while Glenavon face a step into the unknown in the form of Highland League side Formartine United.

Current champions Ross County, who beat Connah’s Quay Nomads of Wales in last year’s final, didn’t compete this year after achieving promotion to the Premiership.

The Nomads have been drawn at home to Cove Rangers while Welsh champions the New Saints face a trip to Stenhousemuir.

English Football League sides Wrexham and Solihull Moore have been drawn at home to Ayr United and away to Kelty Hearts respectively.

This is the third year that League of Ireland clubs are involved in the competition, one fewer than the Irish League, and last season saw Bohs reach the quarter-finals.

Victories away to Peterhead and at home to Sutton United set up a last eight tie with East Fife at Dalymount Park but the match was postponed and ultimately forfeited due to a frozen pitch.

Keith Long’s side qualified as sixth-place finishers in last year’s Premier Division while Waterford were awarded St Patrick’s Athletic’s spot after they took the Blues’ place in the Europa League.

The ties are due to be played on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of September.
