Dean Casey returns to Cabinteely following short stint with Athlone

First Division playoff contenders Cabinteely have confirmed that Dean Casey has returned to the club after a short-stint with Athlone Town.

Casey departed the South Dubliners during the off-season before joining forces with Terry Butler at Athlone.

The wide player made 20 appearances for the Blue and Black of the Midlands before making his return to Cabinteely.

During his twenty appearances for the First Division basement battlers, Casey scored once during the 4-2 win over fellow strugglers Wexford on the opening night of the season.

Once on the books of Bohemians, the former Shamrock Rovers under-19 made his league debut for the Gypsies in October 2016.

The now 20-year-old scored his first senior league goal during 2017 for Cabinteely against Cobh Ramblers in September 2017.

Casey moves in the other direction of recent Cabinteely and Athlone transfer dealings. Sean Fitzpatrick, Nika Kalandarishvili and Ollie Hamzat have all joined Butler’s charges in recent weeks from Cabo.

The wide player’s return to Pat Devlin’s side comes as a major boost for the Green and Whites who are preparing for their FAI Cup clash against Cork City at Stradbrook on Friday evening this week.
