Cabinteely unveil re-signing of Robert McGee as six depart ahead of First Division promotion chase

Cabinteely have confirmed the re-signing of defender Robert McGee along with the departure of six from the First Division’s unlikely promotion contenders.

McGee returns to the fold at Stradbrook following a brief spell away while Ollie Hamzat, Nika Kalandarishvili, Sean Fitzpatrick, Adam Maher, Ross Moloney and Adam Doyle have all left the club.

Experienced defender Fitzpatrick has departed on loan until the end of the season to join 9th placed Athlone Town.

Hamzat and Kalandarishvili have also joined Terry Butler’s side ahead of the First Division run-in on a permanent basis.

Maher joins Leinster Senior League outfit Tolka Rovers, with Ross Moloney joining Wayside Celtic. Adam Doyle has also opted to make the move to the junior ranks to join Bangor Celtic.

McGee returns to Pat Devlin’s side having spent both the 2017 and 2018 campaigns with the Green and Whites.

The UCD underage star played for the Students at under-19 level but was unable to break into the first-team squad at the time.

His most recent outing for the club came on the final day of the 2018 First Division season where Cabo went down to a humbling 7-1 defeat away from home against Finn Harps in Ballybofey.

Cabinteely make the trip to Co. Louth on Friday evening to face Drogheda United at United Park. Kick-off on Boyneside is at 7.45pm.
