Chelsea boss Frank Lampard pleased after Dublin visit

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admits he was pleased with his side’s opening days of pre-season in Dublin following the Blues four-nil win over St Patrick’s Athletic.

Lampard saw his side secure a draw and a win in their two pre-season outings against Bohemians and St Pat’s respectively, with the work his side have put in leaving him content thus far.

“I’ve loved my stay here in Dublin,” the 2012 Champions League winner said.

“From the hotel staff to the fans outside the hotel, everyone has been very friendly to us and we’ve had a great stay.

“It has served every purpose, the facilities and seeing all the fans has been really worthwhile.

“The teams we have played have been very good. They’ve given us good tests, and I appreciate from their part that they are mid-season.

“I know St Pat’s played the other night, so we appreciate that as well and there was a good quality in both teams.”

With the Lampard reign still being very much within its infancy, the former Derby County boss noted his delight to have made the transition to ‘the other side’.

“It’s nice to be in the job and feel what it’s like,” the 40-year-old finished.

“I’ve known this club a long time as a player and I’m very proud to be here on the other side.

“I wanted to make the new staff feel very happy here, but I also want to make all the current staff happy at the club, most importantly the players.

“I’ve had great interactions with them so far, and this part has served its purpose.”
