Bohemians v Derry City -- Where can I watch it and what do I need to know?

A rare Monday night televised game sees Derry City make the long trip down to Dublin to face Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Just six points separate third-placed Bohs from fourth-placed Derry, who’ve a game in hand, but a win for the home side would be a huge move towards securing the final guaranteed European place.

The Candystripes have been rejuvenated under the stewardship of Declan Devine, who took over for a second spell in charge of his hometown club following Kenny Shiels’ dismissal in the off-season.

Bohs, likewise, have been one of the surprise packages of the season, punching above their weight as one of the league’s only part-time sides to challenge Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers.

Derry are unbeaten in their last four games, including on their last trip to Dublin when they held Rovers to a 2-2 draw, and have lost just once since they last faced Bohs in April.

Bohemians have won their last four games on the bounce, including a derby win over Rovers and a last-gap win in Waterford on Friday, which has seen them move within four points of second.

Who are they key players to watch?

His is the name on everybody’s lips following his star turn in the Dublin Derby two weeks ago, and Danny Mandroiu was at it again in Waterford, albeit he didn’t get on the scoresheet this time.

His stunning long-range effort proved the matchwinner against Rovers, having already given his side the lead from the spot, and became a viral hit as it featured on ESPN in the USA.

While Michael Barker stole the headlines with a goal at both ends against Waterford, it’s telling that it was Mandroiu’s corner than led to the defender’s winner deep in injury time.

For Derry, it’s hard to look past the in-form midfielder Ciaron Harkin, who has gone from strength to strength since making the short move west from Coleraine in the winter.

While Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe might quibble following his hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Cork on Friday, Harkin boasts a treble of his own from the recent 4-0 demolition of Finn Harps.

Whatever the midfielder lacks in size – and with Barry McNamee alongside him the Candystripes are far from bruisers – he makes up in strength on the ball, an eye for a pass and relentless workrate.

Team news:

Aaron Barry (hamstring), Rob Cornwall (Achilles), Danny Grant (hamstring), Kevin Devaney (concussion), Dinny Corcoran (ankle) and Cristian Magerusan (cruciate) all miss out for Bohs.

Patrick McClean and Michael McCrudden remain long-term injury victims, while Darren Cole is a doubt.

Betting:

Bohemians 6/4; Draw 21/10; Derry City 15/8.
