Waterford confirm Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup participation for 2019

Waterford have confirmed that the club has accepted an invitation to compete in this season’s Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

The Premier Division outfit will follow in the footsteps of Sligo Rovers and Bohemians who have previously played in the tournament, albeit in a different name.

The Blues will enter the tournament won by Ross County earlier this year in September.

The tournament sees clubs from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland compete against one another.

Speaking after confirmation of the invite acceptance, manager Alan Reynolds told his club’s official media team; “We’ve accepted the invite to play in the tournament.

“It’s something different for the players to play against non-familiar clubs and players in a Cup competition with teams from different countries and leagues.

“We’ll await the draw with interest and prepare for whoever we’re drawn against.”

Waterford join fellow Premier Division club Bohemians who accepted their invite days ago.
